Mini Sports Camp Programmers Gathering

I had just came back from Liewen's house. He had invited all of us to his place to celebrate his birthday. It was like a gathering for the Sports Camp Programmers from SU 5 to SU 9. I was from SU 9, and if I'm not wrong, it is SU 15 this year. Oh man. It seems like I'm really getting old.

We had fun talking about Sports Camp, Sports Ball, Sports Camp's events and we even watched Sports Unlimited 2000 video together. It makes me miss Sports Camp a lot. I really had lots of fun as a freshie back in Sports Camp 9. Even if I were to go back NTU as a freshie now, I guess I would not have enjoyed the camp as much as last time. When I was 19 years old, I could cheer loudly and had lots of fun. As for now, it just doesn't feel right for me to cheer loudly like what I used to do back in 2002. I'm getting old...

I love FRIDAY!

It's FRIDAY!

It had been a hectic week for me... And I'm so glad that today is FRIDAY! Though Saturday is going to be a busy day as well, I'm glad that weekend is approaching. I simply love weekend!

I just had my first jog since last Sunday's half marathon. It was a short jog, but I felt really great after it.

And I had a satisfying dinner too. =p

Bali Thai

After planning for so long, my branch finally went to Bali Thai for Branch Dinner. We were supposed to go Carousel but it was fully booked, hence we got to change the venue to Bali Thai.

As I did not really eat my lunch, I was really hungry. And I was so glad that they served the food shortly after we had ordered the food.

A Good Exercise in the Morning

I did something really stupid this morning.

When going for my course this morning, I took a lift, wanting to go to 32nd Floor. However, upon reaching 22nd floor, I realize that this particular lift would not go to 32nd floor. By right, I should have taken the lift all the way to the 1st level and took another lift. Instead, I had decided to climb the stairs all the way from 22nd floor to 32nd floor.

I think I'm nuts to do that.

For your information, I was wearing office wear with heels, climbing the stairs.

Army Half Marathon 08

First of all, let me wish a

BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO WEIPENG!

I had just completed my first half marathon of the year! It was a great experience as it was my first run on the Marina Barrack and there was a 2km long trail run. I had completed the run in 2hrs and 45mins. It was not a fantastic timing, but the most important thing was, I had completed the race! However, I seriously think that there is a problem with my foot as it starts to hurt after running for 5km... Maybe I should just stop running long distance for the moment and see how it goes...

Also, Thanks to Weipeng and his sister, Xinyi for driving us to the starting point. And thanks for JH for running this challenging race with me. =p

Anyway, I'm super tired now... So tired that I'm having a bad headache now...

I woke up at 4+ am this morning to go for the Army Half Marathon. And after the run, we went for breakfast cum lunch. After which, we went to Central as the guys wanna collect the Nike Human Race's Race pack. Yuxiu is super on. She came all the way from home to meet us to celebrate Weipeng's birthday. When we reached the race expo, to our horror, there was a super super long queue! The queue was really crazy. I waited with them till 2+ until I really got to leave to go home to get ready for tuition. And immediately after bathing, I went for tuition.

I'm just so tired... I guess I will sleep at 9pm tonight. I'm just so tired... Yawn.

It's going to be a busy week for me next week. Other than attending an important course on Monday and Tuesday, I got to prepare for the branch visit on Friday.

Mon - On Course (Followed by dinner appointment)
Tue - On Course (Cluster Meeting - which I was supposed to chair this meeting. I had forgotten to print the agenda, so I just hope that I could prepare it after my course on Tuesday)
Wed - Back to work (Followed by tuition)
Thurs - Work (followed by preparation for branch visit on Friday and Branch Dinner)
Fri - Branch Buddy Ops Visit

I just hope that next week will pass by without any problems!

A Sleepless Night

I didn't sleep well at all last night. I was thinking about many things and after lying on my bed for at least 2 hours, I was still unable to sleep. Even when I had finally fallen asleep, I kept on waking up. As a result, I woke up this morning, feeling tired. The good thing is, I could wake up a bit later this morning as I'm not holding on to the keys and the relief CSM would not go to branch so early.

Hopefully, I would be able to sleep well tonight. =p

Oh ya, I would be running my first half marathon this Sunday. Given that I have not been really training hard for long distance, I just hope that I can complete this race with a good timing and with ease. =P Jia You!

Fish Therapy

I went for fish therapy today! It's kinda scary as all the fishes will SWIM and NIMBLE your feet the moment you put your feet into the pool of fishes! I was so scared that I started screaming and refused to put my feet into the pool. The girl had to put my feet slowly into the pool... It's amazing that all the fishes simply enjoy eating my dead skin.

Thankfully, the therapy was only for half an hour. =p It was a fun session though I think I won't go there for another therapy again.

Let's pray for her...

A beautiful dancer was supposed to perform solo for the Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony 2008. As this was an important event to her and to her country, she trained hard to perform the best for the Opening Ceremony. She has been training hundreds or even thousands times for the performance. Yet, during one of the rehearsals, she fell down from more than 3m high platform and was injured badly due to a miscalculation by other performers who were supposed to catch her on a moving platform. She was admitted to the hospital immediately and was told that she would be paralyzed for the rest of her life. As a result, she could not perform on the night and her understudy would perform in place of her.

I feel really sad for her. She used to be a great dancer who have gotten a chance to perform solo in front of the whole world for such an important event. Just because of an accident, it had changed her life forever. It's really depressing to hear of such news.

I wish that she will have a speedy recovery and I sincerely hope that she will be able to dance again...

Project Meeting

I went for my first project meeting yesterday. I would be working with people of different departments and this project will require lots of commitment and time from me. On one hand, I am really excited to take on this project to learn more things and for more exposure, I'm also worried that it will affect my daily work. I feel really bad to disrupt everybody's leave so that I can do this project twice a week. Oh well, let's take a step at a time I guess...

I'm currently on leave, but somehow, I feel kinda disturbed. Sigh.

Timbre @ Arts Museum

I met up with my secondary school friends last night to celebrate our birthday boy, Weipeng's birthday. As per the birthday boy's request, we met up at Timbre (Arts Museum). It's quite a good chilling place, except that it can be quite hot without the fan!

It's rare that peng is not driving, and so we can finally make him drink! As usual, his face turned super red after a few rounds of drinking. Haha. I don't really like Vodka, but last night's Vodka Mango is quite nice. I think it is probably the only drinkable vodka to me. Haha.

Money No Enough 2

I had just watched the movie, Money No Enough 2. Though I'm not really a fan of Jack Neo's movie as I don't understand Hokkien, I think it's a great movie. It's funny, yet at the same time, it's meaningful and touching towards the later part of the movie. Thumbs up for the movie. =p

Anyway, I had planned to be on off for the next two days, but it seems like I may have to change my plans due to some unforeseen circumstances. Oh well, we shall see how it goes...

I'm feel so sleepy now. I think I got to go and sleep now...

Housewarming...

We went to my brother's new house yesterday! He had moved in last month, but it was my first time to his place... It's quite accessible with the free shuttle bus, though I was a bit lost, trying to find his block. The place is a bit small, but it's quite cosy. And the pool is cool! All of us changed into our swimming gear to swim in the pool. Even my dad who don't really like swimming, was happily swimming! We even had a mini "swimming contest". haha.

After swimming, we went to bathe. And we had dinner by the pool side before we went into the KTV room! The KTV room is quite cool, isn't it?

I like the KTV room! It's very cosy and comfortable. Most importantly, we don't have to pay a cent to sing KTV!

We sang for about 4 hours before we went home. I was totally so exhausted that I fell asleep on the cab.

All in all, it was a great family gathering though it's such a pity that my brother in law couldn't join us due to work.

Happy National Day!

It's a Saturday and I don't have to work today as it's National Day! I love to watch NDP live, but I didn't manage to get the tickets this year. So I guess I can only sing my favourite National Day's songs at home and watch the parade! I'm proud to be a Singaporean! Yeah!

Anyway, I had received an unexpected call yesterday. I was told that I had been "chosen" to do a "mega project" which will probably need my commitment till end of this year. On one hand, I'm excited to be part of this project to learn and explore more new things, but I'm also concerned about juggling between work, this project and other commitment. Oh well, I have no other details about this project, so I guess I shall wait till all is confirmed before worrying so much. =p Whatever it is, I believe it will be a good experience for me.

It really feels great not to work on Saturday! Yet, as a front-liner, I doubt I will have much opportunity to have such luxury not to work on weekend. Ever since I had started working since graduation, I have been working on almost all weekend. In fact, I used to work on Sunday as well. I should be thankful that I no longer have to work on Sunday (for the time being...). Besides, as compared to some people, I do have relatively quite a lot of off days and leave, so I guess I should not complain so much. One should always be contented with what we have, so that we will be a happier person!

I'll be going to my brother's housewarming later! I'm really excited to see his new house and I hope the weather will be good so that I can have a good tanning session at the pool too!

For One More Day

I had just finished reading the book, For One More Day. It's a wonderful book which I would want to recommend to all of you. It makes me realize that we tend to take our loved ones or even friends for granted. My grandma and mum would always prepare breakfast everyday for me, but I don't think I have ever said a simple Thank You to them. I would always say at least millions of Thank You to my customers, then what is stopping me from saying a simple Thank You to my grandma and mum when I love them so much? Why do we tend to wait till the very last minute when the person had left us, then we actually yearn to have one more day to say goodbye to him or her?

I cried when reading this book.

Also, I would strongly encourage all to read the book, The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It's a good book which may just change your perspective towards life after death. It gets me to wonder what would happen to me after death...

Last of all, I wanna tell all my loved ones and friends that I love all of you. Thank you for crossing my path in a way or so.

I'm truly a blessed girl with wonderful people around me. =p

(P/S: KC, thanks for sharing such fantastic books with me! But, it would be better if you can lend me the other book, Tuesday with Morrie too. =p)

My office PC has come back to life today!

Kukup Trip 08

I'm back from the Kukup Trip!

After branch had closed on Saturday, all of us were super excited as we were going to Kukup! It was a pity that some of the staff could not join us due to family commitment, but at least half of the staff were going for the trip!

There was a horrible Jam at the Woodlands link. Thankfully, we are entering JB by the express lane, if not we probably will only reach Kukup in the evening! Uncle basically sped all the way to Kukup and after about 1.5hr of bus ride, we finally reached Kukup!

After waiting for awhile, Uncle Bock sent a ferry to bring us across the river to our chalet!

Our chalet was very spacious with three bedroom and it was very clean too!

After marking our territory in the respective rooms, some of us started singing KTV while the gamblers started playing with cards. It was totally a relaxing trip as we could do whatever we want OTOT. And our stomach will never be empty as they would provide all meals and snacks!

And soon, it's dinner time! Dinner was really good! All the food was well-bbqed and it was super delicious! I love the home-made Otah!

All of us were very satisfied with the dinner. We brought some of the left over food back into the chalet, in case we would be hungry at night.

And now, it's TEAMBUILDING time!

All of us took turns to bathe and once all of us were ready, we started our teambuilding games! We started playing 007. It was so exciting that we all started to lose our voice after a few rounds. We know that we had to stop the game, if not all of us won't be able to work on Monday! And so, we decided to go for a walk around the chalet.

Some of the houses were really beautiful, but it was a pity that the sewage system at Kukup was really bad. Whenever you pee, your urine will go straight to the sea. This will also mean that you actually will see your "shit" dropping into the sea. It's quite an experience, isn't it? Moreover, if you really have a house at Kukup, you will see all the rubbish (like durian shells, plastic bags, etc) floating around and many mud skippers whenever you step out of your house.

All of us stayed up until 4am before we went to sleep... We were so tired that we did not bother to set alarm to watch the sunrise. Haha. As usual, I didn't get to sleep until 5am though I was really sleepy. I guess I just miss my bed and pillow at home...

While all were still sleeping, Eunice, Anthony and I had breakfast at 8am... I was really tired, but I think I should not waste time by sleeping so much! Haha. When all were up, we started to play poker cards to pass time while waiting to visit the fishing village.

Having our lunch there before going back to Singapore... It was a satisfying lunch, especially we had managed to get an extra dish after some negotiation. Haha. We're just typical cheapo Singaporeans.

After lunch, we're going home! All of us were so tired that we concussed on the bus.

There wasn't much jam and we reached Singapore at 4+.

All in all, It was really a great teambuilding trip. I had enjoyed myself a lot. Really appreciate Jamie for organizing this trip for us! =p
