Turning Thirty

At the age of 21, I feel that I am young and full of hope and dreams. As I am approaching thirty (in 2 months plus time), you start to experience "mid-life" crisis - The crisis of Turning Thirty. When I was in JC, I read a book, Turning Thirty by Mike Gayle. Back then, I was only 17 years ago and I feel that the age thirty years old seems so far away. I really can't imagine I am turning thirty so soon.

This is how I feel as I am turning thirty...

1. You care more about your sleep rather than not having enough fun.

2. You start to have backache after doing 3 standing broad jumps. In fact, you start to have body ache more often than usual.

3. You don't need many friends, you just need a few close friends.

4. You start to look back and wonder what have you achieve in the past 30 years.

5. Your metabolic rate slows down and you get fat easily.

6. You want to sleep early every night as you just feel so tired everyday.

7.  Your countdown party with your friends ends at 1am (sometimes it ends at 12.30am) instead of 5am.

8. Most of your friends are inviting you either to their wedding or to baby showers.

9. You no longer find it exciting to try those roller coasters. You find it scary and it seems too much for your heart to take it.

10. You start to have more and more colleagues who are much younger than you.

11. You start to hear comments from others that you are no longer that young, it's time to have baby before you hit 30.

12. You can no longer squeeze with the young kids at those free standing concert. I had my bad experience at Maroon 5 concert last year at F1.

13. Your teenage idols are all turning 40 and most are married with kids. It's strange that they look the same while you have matured (or aged).

14. You have the financial means to buy your childhood toys like Tranformers which have appreciated in price by 2 to 3 times.

15. You start to wonder how did you manage to do night cycling from 10pm till morning when you were much younger.

16. You want to be home by 10pm everyday. Getting home at 11pm is too late for you.

17. You have known most of your friends for more than 8 years. Think about it, you would have known your first colleague at your first job for more than 8 years now.

18. You go for the quality of food instead of quantity of food.

19. Kids start to call you "Auntie". Why can't the kids be smart and just call me "jiejie"?

20. You try all kinds of skin products to make yourself look young and pretty.

And the list goes on and on... In summary, you just don't feel that same anymore as compared when you were in your 20s. Things just change.

Maybe I will write another entry when I am approaching 40. 10 years to go though I hope it will not come so soon.

Happy Birthday to Jianhui!

It's Jianhui's birthday today! Happy Birthday to my dearest hubby! Wishing you all the best in whatever you do and may all your dreams come true! =p

We went for a short jog in the morning before we headed to Bukit Panjang Plaza's McD's for breakfast. Both of us are really getting fatter. Think we ought to cut down on McD's and prata if we want to lose weight.

As for lunch, we went back to Teck Whye for lunch! His mum had cooked a lot of dishes - pork, fish, vegetables, chicken and soup! She also prepared my favourite fruit juice! There's so much food to eat, so you know why I can't seem to slim down nowadays.

And we decided to go to East Coast Park to relax! Weather is good with clear blue sky. It's totally so relaxing and shiok to be at ECP on a weekday! Coincidentally, some workers were pasting some poster on the road. We were one of first few people to pose with the poster!

Posing with his Birthdate - 23!
After such a relaxing afternoon, it's time for dinner! As per almost every year, we went to Jumbo for dinner! =p It was totally a fantastic dinner as we got to eat our favourite herbal prawns, black pepper crabs and buns with chilli crab sauce!

It was totally a great date with Jianhui!

What? It's July?!

Just when we were still wondering what had happened to the first 6 months of 2013, it's already 21 July 2013.

I had been rather inactive in races lately until I am itching for races! I was supposed to go for Shape Run on 7 July 2013, but it was postponed due to "haze". The haze situation is more or less a history but I guess the organizers decided to postpone it since it was quite bad in late June. Anyway, I am looking forward to 2 races (and Jianhui's races) in August! Meanwhile, I shall train hard so that it will be a leisure run for me on race day.

Last Sunday, it was BBCSC's annual charity event - AWWAke Breakfast at AWWA. Some of them came early to cook while the rest helped to serve the food to the elderly.

We sangs songs and played BINGO with them. There's this auntie who looks like she's in her 50s but know what? She's already 82 years old! She's cheerful and happy. It seems like being happy does help one look younger. She is my role model.

All in all, I'm glad that I was there to make a little difference to their Sunday morning.

As for this Sunday, I had "volunteered" to go back office for UAT testing. We had to reach office at insane timing of 6am! Luckily, we could claim the cab fare as the cab fare is $29 (inclusive of $8 for advance booking). It was pitch dark when I reached OCBC Centre at 5.30am. Subsequently, Tze Peng they all also came for the testing.

Chay Yoon bought bread for me while I bought tea from McD's to keep myself awake. Actually, there's buffet breakfast at downstairs but I heard about the bad feedback about the food, so I am contented with the bread. Haha.

We completed testing relatively fast, but we couldn't go home as some departments were facing issues with some systems. And so, while waiting, I was happily sorting my emails. =p

By 10am, all of us could go home! =p

Wishing all a happy Sunday!
