3D2N Penang Trip

I just came back from a short trip to Penang and I must say it's quite a nice place for food! It's looks very similar to Singapore in terms of road, transport, flats and food, except the cars are much cheaper in Penang. And the food is simply good! No wonder I put on 1kg after this 3D2N trip.

On Friday, I rushed to airport to take the 7.50pm flight to Penang. After checking in, we had a quick dinner at Coffee Toast before we boarded the plane. It was a short flight to Penang. When we reached Penang, CK helped to rent a car and he introduced his friends Wei Chen & Lee Shan to us. CK drove us to Equatorial Hotel. It was really a very nice "atas" hotel and our room is so nice! They even provided Crabtree & Evelyn for toiletries. Indeed very atas. Haha.

I wish I can bring this bed back home!

After checking in, Wei Chen & Lee Shan brought us to 888 prawn mee for supper! The prawn mee was really yummy. And it's only RM3 for a bowl of prawn mee! Thumbs up for the prawn mee. Then it's time to go back to our cosy room.

The bed was really comfortable and spacious. I had a great sleep on the bed!

Early in the morning, we went for hotel buffet. Breakfast was normal only, saving our stomach for better food! Haha.

CK was really early to fetch us at 9am+. He drove us to the starting point to collect our race packs! It's only then we realized Jianhui had signed up for 10km fun run instead. Haha. As a "veteran runner", it's funny that he had signed up for the wrong category. Haha.

Posing with our race bib and race packs!

Then it's time for food! This was CK's third time to Penang and he's really a good guide. He brought us to many places. We were supposed to have lunch at a Thai restaurant at Bukit Genting Hill, but it was closed for renovation. And so, we went to eat Penang Assam Laksa. Maybe I'm not used to the taste, I still prefer our Singapore's laksa. But, the creme brulee was really good! It's not cheap though. It costs MYR13!

After laksa, we went searching for durians. However, it's not the right season for durians as all the durian trees are without fruits! In the end, we ate fruit platter of mango, jackfruit and pink guava at the fruit farm. While driving down, we saw durians! In order to satisfy our craving, we bought the durians and mangosteens though they are really expensive and not that nice. Oh well, since we were on holiday, just hack care and eat. haha.

By then, we were really hungry and sleepy. Haha. Thanks to CK, we could sleep a bit on the car while he was busy driving. We decided to find a place to enjoy some air con and rest. He drove us a a new shopping centre, Straits Quay (I can't really remember the name) and we rested at Starbucks!

Then it's time for dinner! Wei Chen recommended us to eat Wanton mee at Chulia!

Very nice wanton mee! According to Wei Chen, it was so good that it would be sold out around 8+

Finally a group photo!

After dinner, we went back to hotel to rest to prepare for our run tomorrow!

We woke up at 4 plus and Wei Chen was here to send us to the starting point! We're all ready for our race!

The women started earlier at 6.30am so sis and I went to the starting point first. It was really very crowded and there were so many people! For the start, we couldn't even run and there were many people blocking us. As it was really early, the weather was cooling and nice for a run. =p We saw CK and Jianhui overtaking us towards the later part of the run.

 photo 1450190_10153443460600184_1594735209_n_zps77270a0a.jpg
All in all, we were happy to complete the race!

After a good run, what's next?! It's food again! CK brought us to the best Dim Sum place in Penang - Maxim. The dim sum was nice and cheap! We had a full breakfast then we went back to hotel to bathe!

We relaxed in the hotel and we also went to our executive lounge for free soft drinks. Then, it's time to check out. We can't bear to leave our comfortable bed actually. haha.

And now, it's time for Fried Kway Teow! The KTG cafe was really crowded but we managed to find a table. We had to wait 45 minutes for the fried kway teow. While waiting, we ate yam cake, fried oysters, chee cheong fun and ice kachang. We can really eat!

Waited 45 minutes for this plate of fried kway teow.

Verdict: It's nice but a little bit too spicy. Overall, I like it!

After such a heavy lunch, it's time to head to the airport. We're going back to Singapore after a short but fun 3D2N trip to Penang.

Overall, I like Penang and I think I would be back again for more FOOD! hahaha.

Happy One Year Wedding Anniversary to Jianhui & me

"With this ring, I marry you." - This was what we said exactly one year ago...

I find it amazing that one year had passed by so quickly that it still feels as if we've just gotten married not long ago. It has been a wonderful one year together and I look forward to many many years of wedding anniversary with Jianhui. =p He has been taking good care of me, our house and everything under the sky. I know that with him around, I won't be alone and all problems can be solved.

For this year wedding anniversary, we decided to stay at Oriental Hotel for a night. Everything is so familiar the moment we checked in the hotel. And they even made our stay more memorable by surprising us with a cake and a bottle of wine! It's so sweet and thoughtful of Oriental Hotel.

Jianhui,
Thanks for everything that you've done for me! Thanks for being my best friend, my best buddy, my best Man Utd buddy and my best husband. I love you dear! Happy one year wedding anniversary! =p

On Sunday, it's GE Women's Run and I am just 5 minutes away from the starting point! It's damn cool to be staying so near to the starting point. Haha.

The weather wasn't that good as it started to drizzle towards the last 2km. Nevertheless, the race was well-organized and there was a lot a lot of food at the Food Village. There was Nando's (yes, you didn't see it wrongly), hotdogs, ice-cream and fruits! We didn't get to enjoy it as we were going for our breakfast at Meltz Cafe.

A good run with my sister!

I am looking forward to my 10km run at Penang and finally a full marathon to end the year with a blast.

Congratuations to Alex & Puay Cher

This is definitely the peak period for weddings again. From October till December, I have a total of 6 wedding dinners to attend. It's getting to be a gathering session and a great opportunity to catch up with friends. =p

Alex had invited us to his wedding at Shangri-la Hotel. On the eve of his wedding dinner, he's simply so sweet that he sms each of us the table number. That's really very thoughtful of him! And you know what? He even developed our "old" photos for us to bring home. Anyway, it's my first time attending wedding dinner at Shangri-la and I must say it's really very grand and nice. The only thing is, I don't know why they want to keep the ballroom so dim and dark. Haha.

There's a fun photo booth and most importantly, we get to have our photos printed out instantly. That's very nice! We had fun taking photos! And we got to catch up with Weisi who is currently outstationed at Beijing.

Typical table photo without the bride and groom though

I went for my department's D&D on Friday and it was Alex's wedding dinner last night at Shangri-la Hotel. 2 consecutive nights of 9 courses dinner and getting home at midnight. No matter how much I hate to admit, I got to say as I am getting old, I really can no longer party till late night. I need to sleep early tonight to "recover".

Friday Night Live

It's our annual D&D! And this year, the theme is Friday Night Live! Hmm... It just means there is no theme. Haha. For BBCSC, we decided to dress up as Italian Mafia!

We are SOoooo Rich

How does we look? Jianhui says I don't look like a mafia at all. As I look too guai. Haha.

The dinner supposed to start at 7pm and we were really late. We only left the office at 7pm. Oh well, we worked until 6pm so can't help it ya. Especially, the girls need to get changed and make up. Haha. Thanks to Ivy for helping me to put on the fake eye lashes!

By the time we reached, most of the people were already there. This would mean that we can have our dinner soon! That's good news for me as I am really hungry!

BBCSC's Mafia!

There wasn't any performances today and we had only invited Kumar as guest performer. As such, D&D doesn't seem to be as fun as previous years... Hmm... But, the Emcee was really Funny. Very entertaining. And the saddest thing is, I didn't win any prize this year! Boo Boo...

After the dinner, Chay Yoon, Ann, Karen and I shared cab to go home. We could have gotten home much earlier if not for the taxi driver who went to the wrong taxi stand. ''>_<
