My New Year's resolutions for 2013

The day has come. It's time to make new year's resolution again!

My New Year's resolutions for 2013

1) Work
It has been a great learning experience working in the corporate department. I have learnt something very different from what I see in branch and I hope I can continue on this learning curve. I also hope to get exposed to many new things which will enhance my working experience in future. In 2013, I will work hard and work smart and most importantly, expose myself to many different kinds of working opportunities.

2) Money
In 2013, I hope that I would have a good pay increment with good bonus. With that, I hope to earn more money and save more money. It has been about spending money (large amount of money) on wedding and renovation for the year 2012 and hence, I hope I can save more money in 2013. I got to "force" myself to save a certain amount of money every month. Let's make it $1K a month!

3) Health
I had just did my body check up in late November and the results are disappointing. My cholesterol isn't good. =( This will mean that I will have to cut down on my favourite fried food, seafood and tidbits. I guess it's important for me to eat more healthy food instead of eating my "happy" food every other day. On top of it, I would like to continue to keep fit to exercise regularly. So far, Jianhui and I have been doing well in this aspect as we would try to go for jogging on weekend. I think if i continue to go running with him (and running at his pace), I would be able to achieve my PB for my races soon!

4) Family and Friends
Life is incomplete without family and friends. Now that I have moved out of Sengkang (booboo), I realize the importance of spending time with my family. I miss my parents, ah nei, sis, Alan and my dearest princess, Gwyneth. Also, my ah nei's health has not been that good since last year, it's important for me to spend time with her whenever i go Sengkang. I also must find time to visit my grandma who seems to have aged a lot when I saw her last year at my wedding. Though I have gotten married, I must find time to meet my dear friends who matter to me. In 2012, I am guilty of not meeting up with some of my friends as I was busy with wedding and work. Now that I had gotten married, it's not an excuse anymore so I must find time to meet my friends.

5) Acquiring new skill
In 2012, I hope to learn something new - Could be diving or even Korean Language. I have been wanting to go diving and somehow it has not happened yet. Could it be happening in 2013? Let's see. If not, I wouldn't mind learning Korean language so that if i go Korea, I would be able to converse in simple korean language. And yes, I want to learn how to cook! =p It's not healthy to eat out everyday and so, Jianhui and I would try to cook at least once a week. With that, I need to learn how to cook. I am open to explore any new dishes! If you have any secret recipe, feel free to share with me!

That's about it so far! Let's all make 2013 a fantastic year!

I know it is just going to be a good year for all of us! =p

A great 2012

Just 2 more days and we will be approaching the year 2013.

2012 had been such a busy year for me that it had passed by extremely fast this year. This is a special year for Jianhui and me as it's a year of wedding and renovation. We had moved on to the next phase of our life and so far, everything is good, except for the fact that I still have tons and tons of clothes, things, soft toys at Sengkang. Other than that, I feel like a grown up adult having my own house and doing household chores together. Life is really good when you have a good husband who helps to do housework, cooks dinner for you, prepares breakfast for you and even acts as your alarm clock. Jianhui, thanks for every small little thing that you had done for me.

It had been a good year of travelling too. I had travelled to Krabi (2 times in fact), Taiwan and even went for my trekking trip at Mount Kota Kinabalu. Thanks for secondary school friends for such a wonderful krabi trip to celebrate our 16 years of friendship. Thanks my sis, Alan and Jinhong for such good travelling buddies to Taiwan. Also, thanks to the trekking team (Liewen, David, Vivien, Sis, Alan, CK, Junhui and Jianhui) for a great experience on top of Mount KK. It was a dream come true for me to go Mount KK as I have been wanting to climb that mountain since I was in university. Lastly, thanks Jianhui for a great mini-honeymoon trip to Krabi.

As for work, it had been busy but fun. I am thankful to have wonderful colleagues (like Karen, Mandy, Ann, Adeline, Claudia, Chay Yoon and many many others) to keep me sane at our stressful working environment. And of course, special thanks to my dear sister, Ailing who has been taking such good care of me since I had joined BBCSC. And I am thankful for the work-life balance. I got to do charity which is something that I have been wanting to do but couldn't find the time. And I got to enjoy weekends with my family and dear friends. =p

Lastly, I had also completed a full marathon again after so many years!

All in all, it had been a wonderful year for me with my family and friends. Thanks everybody for making it a great year for me. =p

Stay tuned for my New Year's Resolutions for 2013!

We had bought our house for almost 2 years and the irony is that we had been staying in our house for only less than 2 months. Haha.

Love-hate relationship

This entry is about my love-hate relationship with the bus 190.

For those people who stay in Choa Chu Kang or Bukit Panjang, they will definitely know this bus very well as this is an amazing bus which will bring you to town and to most places you want to go. When I used to stay at Yew Tee 14 years ago, it is my favourite bus. Within 30 minutes or so, it will bring you to town. This is a super bus to me.

As for now, I still love it as it will bring me to town and it is a straight bus to my office. On good days, it will still perform like a super bus. But now, it is not performing on most days. It gets irritating when you can't get a seat on the bus or it's crowded to the max that you can't even move an inch. And there are times when you see so many crowded buses pass by the bus stop and you just can't board it. This will mean that you probably have to wait for a long long time before you can board a bus which is not that crowded. Waiting time can be so long that you decided that it is more worth it to take bus to Woodlands and go town by train. If there is a jam, you don't know which part of the expressway you are at and you don't know how long you are going to be stuck on the road.

Nowadays when I go to work in the morning, I would think that it is my lucky day if I manage to have a seat on the bus. And it is my super lucky day if I also have a seat on my way home.

Simple things that keep me happy nowadays.

I'm so lucky

He has been doing house work, cooking dinner for me, preparing breakfast for me and even waking me up early in the morning to go to work.

What else do I need to say?

I'm a lucky girl, isn't it? =p

Jianhui, thanks for doing everything for me. I will work hard to be a good wife too!

I completed my 3rd marathon

No training + New pair of sports shoes = A super shag marathon.

I was very tempted to "take MC" for this Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore as I was just not prepared for it. The longest distance I had ran (in AHM) was only 21km and that was like in early September. Jianhui and I did some short run recently and we were already struggling like hell. Nevertheless, we tried ourselves for the race and I'm so glad that we had completed it.

Though Jianhui and I didn't have a good timing for the marathon, it was about ending 2012 (the year we got married) with a marathon so that in future, we would remember that we ran for a marathon on our wedding year. It may sounds stupid we but we started as buddies for race and thought that we should also continued our journey as husband and wife with a race.

Lastly, congratulations to my dearest sister for completing the full marathon today. *Clap Clap* It's definitely an achievement for her and I'm so proud of her. Sis, good job! =p

I was telling my friend that running a full marathon is so painful that this could be my third and last marathon. But then again, things change. Who knows I may start training on long distance and I would be "tempted" to test my limits.
