Busy Weekend

Congratulations to David and Wynn! They got married at Hotel Equarius yesterday. Jianhui, being David's OIC for the wedding, was extremely tired and busy. He woke up as early as 3 plus to go David's house and today he went Denga Bay for David's wedding in Malaysia. Finally, his job is done!

As for me, I went for OCBC Cycle 2014 today! Thanks papa Alan for giving me a ride, I don't have to waste money to take cab today. As I was busy collecting my rented bike, we were late and couldn't start on time. I was told later in the afternoon that there was an accident for the 2nd wave. As a result, we got to flag off with the 27km cyclists a 7.30am.

Nevertheless, I was happy that I don't have to cycle 40km as I was having bad abrasion. =p

All in all, happy to complete another OCBC Cycle 2014.

By the way, there were a lot of accidents today. I hope that the injured cyclists would be okay.

A relaxing Saturday in March

There's no race this weekend so we can relax and enjoy ourselves.

Lately, we are so into the ripple ice cream sold by the uncle located outside The Cathay. Uncle would always serve 5 bicsuits with a big portion of ice cream. I would definitely recommend this ice cream to everybody! Go support Uncle if you happen to walk past there!

Simple pleasure of life - Eating my favourite ripple ice cream with biscuits.

The McD's at King Albert's Park would be closing down at 2359 on 16 March 2014. It's one of the nicest McD's in Singapore. So sad to see it go.

Good morning KAP's McD's.

Oh ya, I went for Venus Run with my sister on 8 March 2014 - International Women Day. It was a crowded race and I was feeling real hot wearing Bioionic Top and tights.

$70 Challenge from 10-15 March

Jianhui and I had this $70/week challenge this week which means that we have to work within this $70 budget for lunch and dinner.

Day 1: $15 (Lunch with Ailing they all at a Dim Sum restaurant which causes me to "burst" my budget)

Day 2: $0 (Ailing bought me $2 lunch and Adeline treated me to Teh Peng with fried rice for dinner from in laws)
Day 3: $3.80 (Mee Hoon Kueh with free Teh Peng from Mavis with fried rice for dinner from in laws)
Day 4: $11(Prawn noodle with free Teh Peng from Jenny Leong and McD's dinner)
Day 5: $0 (Free lunch from Karen Lim) - Dinner at Guo Fu was excluded as it was a special occasion to celebrate Celene's belated birthday
Day 6: $30 (Prata and Teh O for breakfast; Duck rice for lunch, Movie, Ice cream, Temple visit, dinner at Ichiban and McD's)
Total amount spent: $59.80
Balance left: $10.20
Verdict: I had won as Jianhui had burst his budget. =p Haha.

To be frank, I guess I would not have any money left if not for the help and support from my friends. As you can see, I have many wonderful friends who bought me lunch and even Teh Peng. Haha. Jianhui says this is unfair so for our next challenge, we are not supposed to get free treat from our friends. I guess, this will make the whole challenge more realistic and "challenging" to work within the budget. After this whole week, I realize we really spend a lot of money on unnecessary things or good food. For example, you can choose to drink a $1.20 teh peng from coffeeshop or a more expensive one from yakun? All in all, it feels good when you get to save quite a bit of money in a week.

We'll have this challenge again! Jianhui, are you ready?!

First half marathon in 2014

I completed my first half marathon in 2014 at 2XU Compression Run and I'm very happy that I had completed it with the best timing for my half marathon ever. Very pleased with the results as I'm guilty of not training hard enough with my usual 4-6km of training every week.

Jianhui had signed up for full marathon and his starting time is 4am. As such, we were there at the starting point as early as 3.30am. After he had flagged off, I did some stretching while waiting for Celene and Alvin. Thankfully, I managed to meet them despite me not carrying any handphone.

We were flagged off at 4.45am. We started with a good consistent pacing of 7min+. Celene had run with her water bottles so I had to have a quick drink at the water point stations. It was very dark and weather was humid. When we reached about 11km, we were running on the narrow running pavement. I ran ahead and then it was so pitch dark that I couldn't find Celene anymore. It doesn't help that she's wearing the event tee also. (By the way, I nearly fell down again! The curse of 2XU run.) So, I decided to go ahead and run.

That was when I feel like I had warmed up and so I started to quicken my pace. I think I was running about 6.50min/km pace which was rather comfortable for me. That was when I realized I still have the chance to hit my target of running under 2hr30mins. This pushed me harder and I started to run faster and faster and not going for toilet break even when I feel like I wanna go pee.

And I did it! I completed the race in 2hr27mins! My best timing ever! Very very happy with the timing. After the race, I met Hock Siang, Andre, David and CK too! I guess I am too easy to identify as I am one of the few who was wearing pink. Haha. Alvin managed to hit his target of running under 2hrs and Celene had completed the race well at 2hrs40mins! Good job!

David didn't run but was nice to come and support us! David, CK and me chatted while waiting for Jianhui to complete his full marathon. While waiting for him, we cheered for all the runners who were running in. It's always nice to be cheering for others as I know how shitty it is to run a full marathon. You may be just 200m from the finishing line, but at that moment, it could just feel like forever to complete that last 0.195km of the 42.195km.

Finally, Jianhui came running in! Though he didn't meet his target, it's an achievement to complete a full marathon again! What makes Jianhui different from many runners is, he had been doing endurance sports for many years and he's still going strong! His perseverance for sports is amazing.

Then it's time for breakfast at McD's!
