Memories of popo
When we were young, we would always go to her house at Old Airport Road. She would always wait for my dad to be at the car park before she steamed the fish. She cooked the best steamed fish ever.
I also remember that my sister and I would go my auntie house to stay over at Choa Chu Kang and Yew Tee during school holidays. She would always bring us to NTUC, buy toys for us and she made the best ham & cheese sandwich. And everytiime when we went back home after the stay, my sis and I would cry non-stop and we missed popo. We even "stole" a picture of popo so that we can look at her at home. Even now, I would always look at the photo whenever I am at my mum's place.
Whenever i visit popo, she is always so happy and would chat with us. And every Chinese New Year, she would say the same story that Gwyneth is very smart in which she asked popo to get the snack herself when popo asked her for the snack. This Chinese New Year, I'm glad that I had stayed quite a long time with chat with popo. I'm sorry popo that I didn't visit you often enough.
On the day before she left us, Jianhui and I went to TTSH to visit her. She was looking good and even chatted with me. She eve shared that my cousin would be getting married this year end and his wife is a vegetarian. Kakak told me popo fainted at house on Wednesday. Her eyes flipped and she was very cold. I guess popo might have left us on Wednesday but the doctor saved her and she stayed on to say good bye to us.
When dad called me, telling me that popo might not be able to make it last night. I burst into tears and secretly praying in my heart she she would make it. When we reach the hospital, my aunties, uncles and cousins were already at the hospital. The doctor brought us all to a room and shared with us that popo had a heart attack again. At the age of 86, it's impossible to do heart bypass operation and despite that they had revived her 2 times, they would not be able to keep reviving her as her heart is just too weak. When they revived her for the 3rd time, all of us went in and kept on talking to her. It would be our last moment with her. It was heartbreaking to see her heart beat and blood pressure kept on going down. That's nothing we can do. We could only chat to her to make her last journey with us more bearable. When I touched popo, she was already very hard and cold. This is a harsh reality that she was really leaving us. Her face was expressionless too.
Popo had lived a fulfilling life with many children, grandchildren and great grand children. Popo is the kind person. I'm sure she will be in heaven .
Goodbye popo. I don't know how long I would feel so heartbroken, but I know you would want us to be happy and to live a meaningful life, I will be strong and live a good life. I know you will be watching over us at all times. Thanks popo for being such a nice popo to all of us. You are always so kind, so smiley and so nice to everybody. We love you forever.

18 April 2014 - The day popo had left us
Today is a sad day for me. My beloved popo had left us today.
It's the first time someone so close to me had left me. It feels so unreal.
Goodbye popo. I love you and you will be deeply missed by all of us.

2D1N Trip to Putrajaya!
For the very first time, Jianhui and I drove in (together with Che Che) to Malaysia - Putrajaya last weekend for Putrajaya 70.3 Ironman! Jianhui was a very safe and good driver who even navigated to Putrajaya using his phone's Google map.
When we woke up in the morning, the weather wasn't good. It was drizzling. We would love to sleep a bit longer on our bed, but we got to wake up to drive in to Malaysia. After having our happy breakfast at Teck Whye's McD's, it's time to drive in! It's a long drive of 350km! It's must be so tiring for Jianhui as I, myself can't imagine driving for such long distance. In fact, we were saying that he had clocked in a lot of mileage internationally. Haha. We wanted to reach our destination as early as possible, and so we didn't stop by for food. We only made 2 short stops for toilet break.
When we finally reached Putrajaya, I must say it's definitely not what I am expecting! I thought it would be somewhat similar to KL, but I was wrong! The buildings are looking tall and new, well-designed road and with beautiful lampposts! And in fact, there wasn't anything much to eat except maybe hotel food? I was expecting to eat hawker food so I was kinda disappointed that the place is so commercial that there isn't any local food.
We drove around before we went to the race expo to collect the race pack.
Enjoying our RM2 ice cream cone just outside the expo
We also wanted to check in Che Che but when we reached the check in point, it started to rain heavily. So, we decided to check in our Shangri-a hotel to relax. We were kinda looking forward to our staycation at Shangri-la Hotel, but we were disappointed that the exterior of the hotel looks kinda old and definitely not something we are expecting for a 5 stars hotel. Hmmm.... Luckily, the room is still not too bad and most importantly, it's a king size bed! We took a rest on the bed before we went out to check in Che Che.
After checking in Che Che, we walked around to check out the swim route and run route.
Then, we went back to our hotel to rest. It had been a long day for us and so we took a short nap before going down to hotel for dinner. We decided to order ala carte menu instead of buffet which seems to be a wrong decision as we ended up ordering 2 pasta, 1 pizza and seafood platter. Haha. So much of heaty food that I felt sick after dinner. Haha.
We slept early for the night.
On race day, we woke up around 5 plus to get ready to go to the starting point. Luckily when we were there, there's a lot of parking lots left. We quickly parked the car then Jianhui went to the transition area to prepare for his race. At the transition area, we were very happy and excited that we saw our idol, Craig Alexandra! Jianhui ran in to take photo with him!
To our disappointment, our idol would not be racing as he had not recovered from his recent race. :(
Then, it's time for Jianhui to go to the starting point for the swim.
Jianhui was in the 3rd wave. Once his wave was flagged off, I went to the ending point for the swim. I had the best view ever. I could see every swimmer coming out! =p
Soon, Jianhui completed his swim!
And I went to the bike route to wait for him. He would be completing 2 laps around Putrajaya. There's a lot of up and down slopes. Bet it's definitely a tough bike course.
Looking all happy and smiling!
While waiting for him, I walked around to recce the route to get the best route to support him for the run later on.
After completing 2 laps on bike, it's time for the run!
Looking all good to start on the run!
I went to somewhere near the finishing line to support him for the run. By now, the sun is very hot and strong. While waiting for him for the first lap, I could feel that I was sunburnt. Bleargh...
Here he comes for the finishing line!
He completed another half Ironman!
Nice medal!
After getting Che Che, we went back to our hotel to shower. As they couldn't allow us to have late check out, we had checked out early in the morning. Now, we can only use the pool spa to bathe. Haha. It was so shiok to bathe after feeling so sweaty and hot the whole day.
Then, we embarked on our long journey back to Singapore! On our journey back, Jianhui drove faster and the journey seems to be shorter. We managed to reach Singapore around 8+. Thanks goodness there isn't any jam at the custom.
So happy to be back in Singapore for some real hot and nice food! So, we went to Teck Whye for our favourite Hokkien Mee before heading home.
It's definitely a packed but fun weekend!
