2nd Taiwan Trip in a year
You won't believe it, I went Taiwan for the 2nd time this year! This time round, I would be going with Jianhui and his parents. :) We would be going to places that I have not been to, so all in all, it would be an interesting trip for me. :)
13 October 2014
At around 8am+, we went to Teck Whye to fetch his parents. Their luggage is quite light. And so we set off to Changi Airport! We ate Yakun for breakfast before we entered the departure gate. It was a long long long walk to the gate.
As usual, I don't enjoy the food on plane. The bread and the ice cream is the best and that's it. The rest is not important and just not nice. Haha.
About 5pm+, we touched down Taipei. We took a taxi to our first hotel, ECFA Hotel @ Chengdu. This hotel is clean but quite small for double standard room. It's cheap though, about SGD80+ per night. Quite a good price i would think. We were lucky to get a free upgrade to a family room so it was spacious for us. However, my parents in laws' room were really small.
After checking in, we went to Ximending for dinner. We brought them to try the Ah Chung Mian Xian which had a long queue. I also ate my favourite fried chicken. =p With this fried chicken, I'm contented.
We walked for awhile before we went back to rest.
14 October 2014
Today is the day we would be going to the famous Sun Moon Lake (日月潭)! It's my first time going there and so, I'm so excited. Hehe. Jianhui had booked a driver for this trip and it's a mercedes! Haha. The female driver, Ms Luo is very friendly and nice. She can drive very fast too! In 3 hours plus, we had reached Sun Moon Lake, despite that we had went to Puli Wine Brewery for a while and even ate lunch at 60years old shop, Pen Shui. By the way, the food at Pen Shui is definitely not our style. Don't really like the cold duck and even the steamed chicken tasted different.
Our first stop at Sun Moon Lake is Wen Wu Miao (文武廟)! This temple is majestic and nice! After renovation, it looks really new and nice!
Our little donation for the temple
After this, we went to take boat ride. It costs NT300 per person. The commentator is called Ke-le and he is so funny. It was a fun and relaxing ride.
Boat ride
My parents in law were getting tired, so we went to the only shopping mall in Sun Moon Lake. We bought drinks at Mos Burger. We also saw the Giant Bicycle shop that rent out good Giant bikes. I can see Jianhui is tempted to ride a Giant bike and go for a ride. Next time, we can do it together ya!
We walked awhile before we had our dinner at King Carton Restaurant. It's the same restaurant which I went with my family last month. However, in this outlet, there was limited food and it wasn't as nice as the one we had at Cingjing. Also, in this outlet, we were the only customers. Bleargh.
Nevertheless, my parents in law finally got to eat some rice and soup. Haha.
Then, it's time to check in to our Sun Moon Lake Hotel. And it was damn good! Worth every dollar and cent. :) We simply love our room! Big, spacious, clean and with lake view! Highly recommended!
Big bed!
Bathtub with TV!

It was a beautiful morning and we decided to go cycling! Another good thing about this hotel is, they provide free bicycles!
It's so nice to cycle around the lake. Nice and cooling weather. I simply love it! If we have more time, I would love to explore the place on bike!
Our atas hotel... Sun Moon Lake Hotel
Hmm... What is he talking of this time round? Ironman Taiwan?
After cycling, we went for breakfast. Breakfast is much better today. Even my parents in law say so. Haha. Finally, they got to eat something decent.
We checked out at 10.30pm and requested the driver to send us to Taipei 101. Along the way, we stopped by at this Hakka Mee shop. The food is quite good. :)
The driver is so fast that we reached Taipei 101 around 2plus. We bought tickets up to Taipei 101 at the cost of NT500 per person. Luckily, the queue wasn't that long.
It was quite foggy so we couldn't really see the scenery. Haha. For me, it was my 2nd time this year, so it's okay.
We rested at the food court downstairs before we asked the driver to send us Shilin market. We tried to find food for my parents in law. They ate some street food and I ate the most horrible fried chicken. The fried chicken is so bad that I threw it away. Ironically, the shilin fried chicken at Ximending is much nicer thatn this one I had at Shilin. After settling their dinner, we asked the driver to send us to ECFA Hotel. After staying in a such hotel at Sun Moon Lake, I really don't feel like staying at ECFA anymore. Haha.
My parents in law rested in hotel while Jianhui and I went for our dinner! And it's his favourite McD's. Haha.
My happy hubby
We walked around Ximending before we went back to rest... To watch 殭屍道長. Our entertainment at night. Haha.
16 October 2014
Today, we were going to Jiu Fen (九份), about 1 hour ride from Taipei. This is also my first time to 九份.
Jianhui finally got to eat his favourite balls balls!
We also ate the peanut popiah ice cream which was very good. :) After eating the balls balls and ice cream, we were already full. Haha. And so, after finishing walking the street, we went back to Taipei.
My parents in law went back to hotel to rest. We walked a while at Ximending before we went to Taipei Main Station to meet Victor, Jianhui's 3M Taiwanese colleague. It's finally our first time taking MRT in Taipei for this trip. Haha. It costs NT16 for the ride and our MRT card just nice got NT32 to cover 2 way trip. Haha.
We met up with Victor at Second Floor Cafe (This is really the name of the cafe. Haha). We ordered chocolate, mocha and mojito and the drinks took damn long to come. Luckily, we weren't rushing for time so it's okay. After drinks, then we had our dinner at 4pm+ at a restaurant somewhat like Saboten in Singapore. I had chicken Katsu which was quite good. :)
About 5pm+, we went back to Ximending. We bought some snacks for my parents in law. As what we have expected, they ate cup noodles again. Haha.
17 October 2014
It's time to go home. We wanted to bring them to Dim Sum before flying back. But, the shop says that we have to wait till 9.30am before we can eat. Hmm... In the end, we went to McD's for breakfast. haha. After breakfast, we went back to hotel to rest and it's time to check out.
Whenever I go holiday, I would be happy to relax and have fun. At the same time, I will miss my family and Singapore food. I guess I can never migrate.
Just hope that this is a good trip for my parents in law. :) After all, this trip is for them. And yes, thanks my dearest hubby for sponsoring the trip for his parents and me. Hehe.
Lastly, introducing some of my new soft friends from Taiwan...

Excursion to Ubin
After talking for so many years of going Ubin, we finally made it to Ubin on Sunday! Thanks to Teck Loon for giving us a ride to Ubin!
We had our breakfast at Changi Village before we embark our little adventure to Ubin. I was so surprised that they have such a nice "immigration counter" for you to queue to board the bumboats. This just shows that I have not been to Ubin for many many years! The boat ride costs $2.50 per pax which I guess it's a reasonable price and has not inflated much since my sports camp days (about 11 years ago?).
We rented the bike at $12 per bike till 5pm. This is considered quite cheap if you compared the price to rental of bikes at East Coast Park. There's upslope and downslope and even trail route. Definitely not easy to cycle especially when you go down slope. You need to control your bike carefully if not you may just flip.
At times, I couldn't even cycle up the slope. I had to get down my bike and push it up. Haha. We cycled till about 1pm before we decided that we could call it a day. Haha. All in all, it was a fun cycling trip!
Teck Loon wanted to eat lunch at the chinese restaurant near the jetty. The shop was super shorthanded, so we waited super super long to take order and of course our food took some time to come too. Luckily, food was surprisingly good! :)
It was really a great cycling trip at Ubin. I would love to go back there again! =p

One year wiser
No fancy party this year for my birthday. It's just spending time with my family and friends. Simple but I am thankful and happy about it. :) And thanks all my friends for their birthday greetings. It's nice to know that somebody remembers your birthday. Though Facebook helps a lot to "promote" your birthday, at least your friend spends a minute or so to type the birthday greetings.
Early in the morning, Jianhui and I went for a short jog. A SOP for me on my birthday. Thereafter, it's breakfast time at our favourite Lot 1 Yakun. It's a peaceful and quiet Friday.
We went to Nanbantei for lunch. Sadly, lunch was not as good as what we had for Jianhui's birthday. Maybe, the chef wasn't in good mood. Haha. Nevertheless, it was a good birthday treat from Jianhui. Hehe.
As we had no plans, we decided to go to Wheeler's Yard spontaneously! We took the train to Toa Payoh then we took the bus to Wheeler's Yard. It's a nice and relaxing place to nua! Haha. We would definitely come back here again!
And then, it's time for dinner! We went to Mellben for crab feast with my family. We were early, but the queue was really long! Fortunately, they allowed us to be seated once we have ordered the food. We ordered the famous crab beehoon. After eating the crabs, I think Jumbo's crabs are nicer and better! Say no to Mellben crabs!
All in all, it was a happy day for me. =p
Thanks my dad for the dinner treat! Thanks Jianhui for the lovely bouquet of flowers and spending time with me. Thanks Ailing for the Man Utd cake and flowers. Thanks Karen for the cute "The Line" bears. Thanks Mavis for the "photo" with my idol. Thanks sis for my Joel! Thanks Jenny Leong, Karen, Boon Hwee, Yuxiu for buying me birthday treat. Basically, thanks everybody for the love on my special day!
