Cash is King. This is Dubai
I just came back from my short but fun Dubai Trip. After talking for so long, Wanlin, Limin and I finally met up at Dubai! It was totally an awesome trip though I must say I miss Singapore local food like Sliced fish beehoon, Mee Hoon Kuay, Carrot cake and many more food! Haha.
15 April 2015
Early in the morning, Jianhui sent me to the Airport. We had a not so happy breakfast at Burger King before I checked in. I went over to Terminal 2 to meet up with Alan and sis before going to my gate to board the plane. It would be my first time travelling alone so I brought a book with me to read on plane. =p
While waiting to board, I saw Caline, Stanley, Cassia & Candice! They would be on the same flight as me. At least we could share cab to go to our hotel together! Yeah! When I was seated, I was happy that I could have 3 seats to myself! Haha. And know what? Limin's family was sitting behind me. So qiao.
The air stewardess served us food at around 11am+. As usual, I didn't eat much and so I was really hungry when we touched down Dubai's time about 2pm+ (Singapore time 6pm+). There was a delay in the luggage so we waited quite long before we collect our luggage. The WIFI at Dubai airport is really sucky. Because of its lousy connection, i could be charged by Singtel for data roaming. Argh!
Limin was here to pick up her family (and us). It was really good to meet up with her! She has the glow on her face!
All of us managed to squeeze into a cab to go to JW Mariott Marquis Hotel! It was totally a very grand and new hotel. Wanlin came to pick me up at the lobby then we went up the room together. We were staying in room 4209 - high floor! The room was really cosy and comfortable. Jianhui would definitely love this room if he was here.
We relaxed and chatted in the room before we took the shuttle bus to go Dubai Mall with Caline & Stanley. Dubai Mall was really big! There were many many shops but the price is not much cheaper compared to Singapore. And you know a pair of Charles & Keith shoes cost SGD150+! My god! haha,
Wanlin was happily shopping while I was feeling tired. A bit jet lag as it was only 6pm Dubai time but in Singapore, I should be at home getting ready to sleep. Haha. After shopping for a while, I was hungry so Wanlin and I went to their food court for dinner. We ate at Taza and their half chicken was really small. But, it tasted not bad, different from Singapore style. Haha.
We spent some time trying to find supermarket. With some help from the Information Counter, we managed to find the supermarket and bought 2 bananas and 2 apples. Fruits not cheap in Dubai. Then, we decided to go back hotel.
It was totally a tiring and long day for me. Jet Lag.

We were supposed to meet Limin at 9.30am at Marina Mall, so we went for breakfast early in the food. There was a wide selection of food! Totally enjoying the breakfast. Most importantly, there was fruits! After breakfast, we met up with the girls & Stanley to take cab to Marina Mall.
Limin & family were already there when we reached. Then we all were ready to board the luxurious yacht! Immediately, all of us were all ready to take many photos. Haha.

We were eating and drinking on the yacht. It was a great experience and fun. Weather was also good. We could also go down to swim but I find it too troublesome to get wet so I didn't go into the water. Some of her friends went swimming and they looked like they were enjoying themselves.
About 1pm we were back to the harbourbout. We took a river taxi to Limin's place. They were treating us to Lebanese lunch. The restaurant served really good Lebanese food! I love the grilled chicken a lot, especially it's breast meat! Haha. We had a really full food before we went to Limin's place.
Her house is really nice and cosy! We were happily relaxing in her house and using free WIFI. Haha. We relaxed about 3pm+ before we made our way back to hotel to get changed. Wanlin and I had booked tickets to go to Burj Khalifa. The rest went to the beach area.
Our Burj Tour tickets cost about SGD75. Initially, Limin suggested us to get the Premium tickets which cost SGD185. Luckily, we were smart enough not to buy the most expensive ticket. Haha. There wasn't any queue so we could make it in time for our 6pm slot.
At level 124, it's quite small compared to Taipei 101. And they don't have radio commentator to give us a brief history of the landmarks. We were done with the place quite fast then we decided to wait for sunset. We also shopped at the souvenir shop but nothing much to buy except magnets. Haha.
Address Hotel
About 7pm, we were done and so we continued to shop at Dubai Mall as we were quite early. When we went to the taxi queue at 8pm, there was a super long queue. We were so going to be late for our dinner appointment with the girls & Stanley at 8.30pm. To make things worse, the taxi driver that we got didn't know how to go Toro Toro. In the end, we had to change another cab.
In the end, we managed to reach Toro Toro at around 8.45pm. They had already started eating. Food was good. The bill came out to about SGD94 per pax.
After dinner, we went back to our hotel. Wanlin and I had a look at Vault Bar at level 72 of our hotel before we went back to our room to rest. The rest stayed on for drinks.
We didn't do much today but I was really tired.
17 April 2015
It's the wedding day! We were supposed to go gym but Wanlin was feeling tired and she woke up quite late. In the end, we went for breakfast. We felt guilty so we came back to our room to do some exercises which are popular in Taiwan. Quite shag leh. haha.
About 12pm, our make up artist and hairstylist came. I did my make up and hair at AED400 (about SGD150). At first, she did a real Arabian make up for me. I didn't like it so she toned down a bit for me.
My Arabian look for the Dubai wedding
We met up with the girls at 3.15pm at the lobby to take cab together to Palace Hotel. We were going there early to take photos. Palace Hotel is really a very atas and nice hotel. I heard that the hotel stay costs USD500 per night! Wow.
Lovely couple!
Best friends forever. Too bad Viola and Yuxiu couldn't join us!
We took a few photos and relaxed in the hotel room. They had tea ceremony in the room before we went out of the room for more photos taking.
Then, we went to the outdoor wedding venue. Jordan & Huiling were the first to come followed by Terry & Wenxin. Mervyn and his wife were here too!
Gathering at Limin's Dubai wedding
Around 8pm, the wedding started. There was a Zaffe dance in front of the couple when they marched in. It was fun and the couple started dancing. The guests were supposed to be dancing too I guess. haha.
Nabil's brother and Limin's sister gave a touching speech about the 2 of them. Then, it's time for dinner! We were really hungry so we went to the buffet immediately. Haha. After 15minutes, it seems like only the Singaporeans were seated only. Ops. Haha.
After our dinner, it's party time. We danced and danced. Even Limin's parents were dancing with us too! We took many funny videos. Haha. It must have been the most fun and shag wedding for me.
When Limin threw the bouquet, Wanlin got it! Yeah! We were so happy for her! Limin got my magical bouquet and she was the next person to get married among the single girls. Wanlin will be next!
The guys just touched down and were feeling tired. So, we left together about 11plus.
By the time, we were back, I was really tired. Haha.
18 April 2015
Times flies when you are having fun. It was already my last day in Dubai. In the morning, we had breakfast with Jordan & Huiling. After our breakfast, it's about time to go for our desert safari.
The guy was supposed to come at 9.30am but it turned out that he was late as he went to the wrong hotel. WTH. In the end, he came about 10.15am. It was about 45minutes drive to the desert.
We had our camel ride first. It was scary as the camel will bend forward that you feel like you would be falling off from the camel. Both of us were screaming like mad. Haha. This guy kept on asking us to try to ATV but we didn't as we were scared to drive on sand dunes. haha. Then, he brought us for desert driving and dune bashing in high sand dunes. It was quite fun and I find it amazing that how the driver managed to drive without getting lost. Now, I finally understand how is it like getting lost in desert!
There was only 2 of us in the whole desert. We took many photos and even did jumping shots!
Only 2 of us at the desert!
Classic Jumping shot!
This driver quite slack. After a while, he asked us to go back. We bought some magnets then we got on the car to go back to hotel.
We washed up then we took cab to Madinat Jumerirah. We met up with the rest at Al Makan. We had a quick lunch before we walked around the place. Lunch was really salty and not as good as the lebanese food we had the other day. haha.
Happy us!
Al-Arab sail!
We wanted to go to Jumeirah Mosque. However, on our way in the cab, we realized that the mosque is closed. In the end, we asked the cab driver to drive us back to the hotel.
Jordan, Wanlin and I chilled at the poolside. It's relaxing and nice. Then we went up to get ready for our fine dining at Mariott Marina Hotel.
We had our dinner at The Observatory at Mariotte Marina Hotel. Food was not bad and I really love the macaroni and cheese!
Nabil and Limin came to join us too!
After dinner, they brought us to Basrasti Beach Club. There were many people and it's so happening. Given that it's a working day tomorrow on Sunday, there were many people partying.
Limin bought us some drinks. We left about 11pm as Wanlin and I got to get ready for our flight. Jordan and Huiling were really nice to accommodate us. They were already sleeping when we went back.
We washed up then we left the room at 1am to take cab to the airport.
And so, I took the flight alone back to Singapore. I tried to sleep but I didn't really sleep much. So thankful that I had my story book to keep my company. Also, it was a good idea to take A380 as it was much spacious and with better entertainment. Also, I had 2 seats again. =p
All in all, it was really a fun trip to Dubai!
Nabil and Limin, I wish 2 of you a happy and blissful marriage! See you soon in Singapore!
