My collection of medals

I had just completed my last race of the year, Hello Kitty Run 2015! It was a fun run held on 19 December 2015. There was so many people that we had to wait for 1 hour before we could flag off. Like what Jianhui had said, I could have completed a half marathon! Haha.

As per every year's tradition, I had taken out all my medals for a photoshoot! =p The most hard earned medal got to be the SCSM Full Marathon medal.

Just realized the SG50 Swim medal belongs to Jianhui. Haha. Also, the Garfield medal belongs to Jianhui too.
(Austria Race's medal is missing in this picture)

This year is also my 10th of running and so all my medals gathered for a nice group shot!

My 5th SCMS and 6th Full Marathon

Yeah! I completed my 5th SCMS in 6 hours 8 seconds. Wanted to hit sub 6 hour but I was badly hit by a bad cramp in my left leg so I didn't manage to run for the last 2km. Nevertheless, I was very happy and satisfied with this timing! Even Jianhui says that I am very strong! Haha.

On the eve, I was really nervous. I didn't really train and didn't really clock enough mileage. So I was really so worried. Though it is not my first time doing a marathon, but I could remember the pain clearly. Oh well, thanks to Jianhui for his constant encouragement, I made it to the starting line with him.

This year, we decided to stay in Hotel Jen and this was definitely the best decision ever! It's a new hotel which allows us to have late check out and it's really near the starting point! =p From our 18th floor hotel room, we could see runners forming up at the starting line! However, we didn't sleep well that night because of the stupid lamp which would on it automatically every 20 minutes! It's just so irritating. As for me, I couldn't sleep. I guess I was too nervous? Haha.

For the first 10km, I was running my usual 10km pace. However, my left knee was in slight pain and so I didn't push myself further. I was "looking forward" to reach ECP at 13km.

I kept on telling myself to treat this as a normal leisure run. Just enjoy the run to hit 20km. However, I was feeling kinda tired so it doesn't feel like a leisure run at all. Surprisingly, I managed to keep my pacing at 7min+ till 21km. I saw Jianhui on the opposite road which means that he's about 2-3km in front of me.

When we finally got to u turn, I was kinda relieved. At least it's half way job done! I was kinda "enjoying" myself along this ECP stretch as I drank a lot of 100+ and even went toilets 3 times. haha. Surprisingly, the weather wasn't that hot at this time yet. Thanks to the trees. I was getting a bit hungry, so I ate a bit of my power gel too.

Before we reached the end of ECP stretch, I loaded myself with lots of water to prepare myself for the desert at Gardens by the bay. True enough, it was really hot by now. I could feel myself melting and burnt inside out. The good thing was, I could still run and walk during this stretch. This explains why my pacing is about 8min+ per km.

At Marina Barrage, I managed to get an ice cube from the supporters. It feels damn shiok to cool my body. By this time, I was walking most of the time. I was in fact walking up the Nicoll Highway. When going downslope, I started running. And it was a bad decision. My right leg started to cramp really badly. It was so painful that I couldn't do anything. I sat down on the road, feeling helpless. I was just 3km away but I couldn't move. Luckily, a helpful runner came over and he helped to ease my cramp. So thankful for his kind act.

I could finally get up and so I started walking. Only when we were about 2km away, I started to do slow jog. Safari saw me and he cheered me on too!

Finally, I completed my 6th full marathon! It was definitely a joy to cross the finishing line.

A hard earned medal - full of sweat, tears, pain and XYZ words!

Good job to me! Hehe. Also, congratulations to Jianhui for completing his 12th SCMS!

Split timing for my record purposes.
5km - 00:36:14 (7.25 min/km)
10km - 01:13:46 (7.38min/km)
15km - 01:52:44 (7.52min/km)
20km - 02:30:43 (7.55min/km)
21.1km - 02:39:27 (7.56min/km)
25km - 03:15:52 (7.83min/km)
30km - 04:03:36 (8.12min/km)
35km - 04:44:33 (8.13min/km)
40km - 05:40:35 (8.51min/km)
42.2km - 06:00:08 (8.53min/km)

Thanks to Hotel Jen for allowing us to do late check out. We could shower and relax in the room until 12pm. =p We went for a quick lunch at Yakun before we took 972 home.

So proud of Jianhui! His 12 SCMS medals!

And yes, please please remind me to start my training early if I were to do a full marathon again!

Our first Swissotel Vertical Marathon

Since I was in NTU, I have always wanted to go Swissotel Vertical Marathon. This year, Jianhui and I finally went for our first Swissotel Vertical Marathon together! It's quite expensive as it costs $94+ to sign up for the Sunrise team challenge. Nevertheless, it was a great experience for us! We finally did it! Hehe.

Early in the morning, it was drizzling when we reached the starting point. Due to the bad weather, the race was pushed back to 6.45am instead of 6.30am. It was a pity that the ending point was also changed to level 69 instead of 73 floors. It was quite disappointing as this would mean that we would not be able to end the race on the rooftop to enjoy the view.

For the first 9 floors, I was still running up the stairs. Thereafter, I was getting a bit breathless and so I slowed down by a bit. Jianhui was really fit as he was climbing up so quickly. He was always there to give me a pull or a push behind. Thanks Jianhui! =p

Finally, we reached level 69 in 16mins 2secs! The timing wasn't fantastic but given that we didn't train, I would think that we had done well!

Congratulations to Team Roobi! Yeah!
