Ironman 70.3 Dubai 29 January 2016
On 27 January 2016, Jianhui and I had a quick dinner at Bukit Timah Food Centre before we went back home to continue packing for our Dubai trip. Yes! We were going to Dubai, so is Che Che! =p We took cab about 10pm+ and reached the airport quite early.
Jianhui with Che Che!
After checking in, we went inside and since we were quite early, we took the sky train from T1 to T3 and back to T1 again. We had some snack at Killney to kill time.
Our flight is at 0120 and so we were feeling kinda sleepy while waiting for boarding. It was a full flight and so we did not have the luxury of having "extra seat". I was really tired, so i fell asleep quite fast before I woke up for some light snacks and then I went back to sleep early. Breakfast was bad (as usual) - scrambled eggs which is not appetizing at all.
28 January 2016
We touched down Dubai about Dubai time 5am. It was crazily early and not many people at the airport. We had breakfast at Burger King. Around 7am, we went to get our car from Thrifty!
Jianhui is going to drive in Dubai! *clap clap* Thanks to him, I got to be a happy passenger! After getting our car, we drove to Jumeriah Beach. Now, I finally understand what Jianhui means when he says Dubai roads are kinda messy! It's so confusing! By the time, we reached Jumeriah Beach, it's about 8am.
The whole place is decorated with flags and banners. All ready for the big race tomorrow. After collecting the race pack, we went to the race expo to see if we could get merchandise. Luckily (or rather unluckily), the shirt doesn't have my size, so i got to save money.
With the famous Burj Al Arab
My ironman!
The finishing point!
We drove to our hotel, Ibis Styles Hotel. However, the room was not ready yet. So, we went to Subway for an early lunch. By now, we were feeling so tired and like walking zombies. Haha.
After lunch, our lunch was ready and we could check in! Yeah! We shifted our car to the hotel's carpark. Finally, we could shower and rest!! Jianhui started to assemble Che Che too.
We were so sleepy and tired that we fell asleep unknowingly and woke up about 2.30pm. We were really that tired.
We drove back to Jumeriah Beach to check in Che Che.
Che Che looking all ready!
On our way back, we stopped by at Pizza Hut for dinner. The garlic bread and pizza was good! =p
It had been a long day for us and so we went to sleep early!
29 January 2016
It's race day! And it was really cold and windy today! So cold that I had to cover myself up and wear Jianhui's NZ jacket. Luckily, I decided to wear jeans instead of shorts. Imagine if I wear shorts, I guess I would be frozen to death!
Due to the strong winds, the swim was shortened to 600m for age groupers and 2 x 600m for the pros. The swim start also shifted to Jumeriah Beach Hotel.
The swim start is kinda special as it's on rolling start format in which each athlete will jump into the water to swim one by one. Different from the usual mass swim start!
After seeing Jianhui coming out from the water, I quickly walked over to the transition area as I was afraid I would miss him coming out for the bike.
This is how i look for the whole day... Taking a selfie while walking to the transition area.
I got to see Jianhui before he went for his long 90km bike. So now, i got plenty of time. I went to race expo to see if I could get anything. In the end, I only managed to buy the Ironman bell. haha. I was walking around until I saw that there was live coverage on the big screen. I went to the spectator stand and would see the pros racing.
Most importantly, I got to see the pros running right in front of me! They were really running damn fast! I also got to witness the male and female champions finishing the race at the finishing line! My first time experience! It was fun and I got to do high five with some of the top athletes too!
Using the Ironman tracker, I knew that Jianhui was about to come back and so I went over to the bike finishing area to wait for Jianhui.
Well done to Jianhui for completing the 90km bike! It was a tough bike course due to the strong winds. Even the pros also dropped their speed a bit when coming back for the last 23km.
And I cheered Jianhui on when he came out from Transition area to the run course! They were going to do 3 loops around the finishing line. It's good to have the Ironman tracker as I got to estimate when is Jianhui coming back.
Looking strong and good!
Coming back as 2nd Singaporean in Ironman 70.3 Dubai 2016! Wow! =p
I am very happy and proud of Jianhui for completing the half ironman. Well done hubby!
Each finisher will get the super nice finisher vest too!
Nice medal with our Singapore flag
Yeah! The happy Ironman finisher and supporter!
Then, we drove back to our hotel to rest. Even as supporter, i was feeling tired and having backache! Haha.
We were so tired and hungry that we drove to McD's for a quick dinner before going back hotel to rest. We slept early as we were really so tired!
30 January 2016
It's finally time to rest and relax! We had a relaxing breakfast at our hotel. Breakfast was normal but the hot teh o was really good. I had 2 cups of it! Haha.
After breakfast, Jianhui started packing Che Che while I was resting on bed. Jianhui was very efficient when it comes to packing. Sometimes I wish I could help him a bit. Oh well.
About 11am+, we went out to do a trial drive to airport so that we would be more familiar with the route when we go to the airport at night. It was a success! Jianhui is quite talented when it comes to driving in foreign land. Somehow, he would be able to blend in with the local drivers and navigate us to the correct place!
We also made it to Dubai Mall! Yeah! And so, i got to buy my favourite Bateel's dates with macadamia! It was still so good! The only thing worth buying back from Dubai! Haha.
We had our lunch at Wafi Gourmet. Food was not bad! =p We also got to do selfie with Burj Khalifa!
After lunch, we decided to drive to the Palm. It was quite a long ride to the Palm. However, there wasn't much things to see there, so we u turn back after stopping for a while.
By now, we were very tired and so we went back to hotel to rest. We were still full from lunch so we decided to go nearby for dinner much later.
Around 7pm, we walked over to KFC to eat. The fried chicken were quite normal and we waited very long for our Zinger (which was obviously not Zinger) burger. Whatever it is, we are just too happy to have some food.
We went back to our hotel. I tried to rest a bit as we were going to take midnight flight. But, i couldn't really sleep. Sigh.
Then we checked out about 10pm+. Our flight is at 0315 but we decided to go early in case there would be an unexpected delays. We returned the car at thrifty then we went to check in. By 11am, we were all good.
There's plenty of time and so we decided to go Heineken Lounge to chill. We had extra cold Heineken beer which was really good. Good drink to reward ourselves.
\
We had 2 pint of this.
Time passed by so slowly. And we were feeling so sleepy while waiting for our flight. When we finally boarded the plane, both Jianhui and I couldn't be bothered with anything and we just concussed.
I would say it was quite a good sleep for me as the flight seemed to be very short. We had light supper which i ate the biscuits only. Then we went back to sleep early before we woke up around Singapore time 11am. By now, I didn't want to sleep anymore and so I entertain myself with movies, shows and music.
At 2.50pm, we finally touched down Singapore. Feels really good to be back home!
Home Sweet Home!
All in all, it was a short and good trip! Totally enjoyed myself as supporter at Ironman 70.3 Dubai and spending time with Jianhui! It was definitely a good first trip of the year! Thank Jianhui for planning and sponsoring everything for the trip. I am such a lucky girl! =p

Run Happy 2016
I just completed half marathon for Brooks Run Happy 2016 as my first race of the year! Very rare that I started the year with a half marathon as my first race is usually Zoo run in February. Oh well, I signed up for this race coz I like the medal. Turned out that it's quite a good race as the singlet looks cute and there's a free running pouch too! Also, I like the theme - Run Happy. Haha.
We took a cab to ECP Big Splash. When we were there, we realized that there weren't a lot of people. This is good which means that we can really run. After going to the toilet, we went to the starting point. We were just late by a bit and so we had to start in wave 2.
For the first 10km, I would say I was enjoying the run at a good pace. However, after 12km onwards, I start to feel tired. I continued to run without stopping but my pace had dropped quite a bit. I was happy that I saw Jianhui around 8km and 19km.
Basically I was dragging myself to finish the last 3km. In the end, I completed the race in 2hrs 21mins. A PB for half marathon! Yeah! So happy!
It was definitely a good start in 2016.

Angie's Resolutions
It's this time of the year again to set my New Year's resolutions. My resolutions don't seem to differ much every year, but I would still make it a point to write in here so that this will serve as a reminder to me.
Angie's 2016 New Year's Resolutions
1) Stay healthy and keep fit
Health is more important of all. Without good health, you cannot enjoy life even if you have a lot of money. In 2016, I will continue to run and attend my weekly toning class to keep fit. Other than that, I hope to eat more healthy. Jianhui and I realized that we have not been eating enough fruits and vegetables. Hopefully in 2016, with the help of Downtown line, I can reach home earlier and I could cook more often. Even a simple meal with rice, vegetables and egg would do. We have been eating too much outside food that it is definitely not going to be good for our health.
2) Spending time with family and friends
As we grow older, our parents are aging at a faster rate than we know. In 2016, I hope to spend more time with my parents, parents in law and family. Also, I hope we can go on a family trip just like we went Australia together in 2015.
3) Learn or try something new
In 2016, I hope I can learn a new skill or try something new. I have yet to think of what I would like to learn this year. Whatever it is, I just want to learn a new skill - cooking, diving or anything! If given a chance, I hope I get to try skydiving too!
4) Earn more and save more money
I hope my bonus this year will be decent so that I could save a bit more money. In 2015, I didn't save much money as I travelled quite a lot in 2015. Hopefully in 2016, I could save more money to achieve our target savings of $50K a year. =p In 2016, it's time for me to find a new job. Economy doesn't look good but I am still hopeful that I could find a better paying job! Hehe.
5) Travel
Travelling is addictive. If i have the money, I would love to travel once a month. But, we have to be realistic. Haha. In 2016, Jianhui and I are looking forward to plan many exciting trips (or overseas races). Stay tuned to my blog for our trips!
Once again, Happy New Year to all! I'm sure 2016 will be an exciting year! Stay fit and healthy!

Happy New Year 2016
It's first day of 2016! Happy New Year to everybody!
Just like every year, I got to work full day on New Year's Eve. Thankfully, after a busy morning, it was quite a peaceful afternoon. I got to do filing, sorting of documents in my computer and just relax a bit for a while. December had been a busy month for me that I had been eating in almost every other day. Definitely a hectic December.
Weipeng and Aili invited us to their house for New Year's celebration at The Peak. They had prepared a lot of food for us and I finally got to eat Satay Beehoon on the last day of 2015! Haha. Jianhui and I were the first couple to reach while the rest were late as usual.
Lewis (Zhengyu) is really cute and I enjoyed talking to him. And he could speak good Chinese. Baby Sarah is such a darling too as I could hug her and she will keep herself entertained.
When we were done with dinner, we started to play games organized by Wenxin and Terry. Haha. We were split into 2 teams. My team won most the games. Haha. And we got to draw on the losers. We were quite friendly so we didn't draw on their faces.
All in all,iIt was a fun night I would say. Haha. We had moved on from playing poker and drinking games to this.
Happy New Year! Enjoy the long weekend!
Group photo of us by Mr Selfie King! =p Friends of 20 years!
