Goodbye Lala

Our dearest chinchilla, lala passed away peacefully at 7.30am on 28 July 2016. She didn't want to trouble us anymore, and so she chose to pass away before we left for work. We managed to spend her last moments with her... and I really hope that she had left with no pain.

She was still very healthy before i went to bed around 10pm+ on 26 July 2016. I remembered very clearly that she was asking me for food as usual. Seeing that her plate of hay is kinda empty, I topped up her hay before going for bed. Maybe I should have fed some of her favourite treats if I have known that it would be her last treat of her life.

Around 2am+, Jianhui woke me up and told me that lala didnt look good. True enough, she seemed to be in shock. She managed to stand and was still running around the living room. I can see that she looked kinda disorientated but at least she was running around. However, she rejected treats from us, even her favourite apple. Then, she started to be in seizure and was lying down with no strength. We started to google to find out more about seizures. We read online that chinchilla would be in seizures if she was under tremendous stress which resulted in sudden drop in glucose. I also called the so called 24hours vet but apparently the vet was still sleeping as he/she didn't pick up the call.

Jianhui thought of feeding her with sugar water which she struggled to have a few drops. We took care of her from 2am till 5am. Towards 5am, she finally seemed to be better. We left her outside her cage to rest. Then we went back to sleep. Jianhui woke up half hourly to check out on her.

We were really tired but we still woke up early to bring her to vet. After calling The Animal Clinic as recommended by Karen, we brought her down. The clinic looks kinda atas and there were many other dogs and cats. Lala was about 1.05kg with cage and carrier.

Dr Megumi advised that Lala needed to be hospitalized, so we left her in the clinic before going for breakfast. I was very worried about lala and I just hope that she would recover.

Around 4.30pm, Jianhui went to pick lala up. Dr Megumi told Jianhui that lala had head injury. So, I guess she might have fallen down from 2nd level of her cage. Sigh. She seldom climbs to 2nd level, so i seriously don't understand why on earth would she be on 2nd level?

We met at Beauty World before we went home together. Lala didn't look well and she was also not eating well. Not much shit as well. :( Very heartbreaking to see her in such state. We went to Ichiban for dinner while my sis came over to see lala too.

We tried to feed lala with the premium soft food which smelled and probably tasted like hay. She didn't really eat much either. Sigh. She was getting weaker and weaker.

Jianhui even woke up at 2am+ to feed her 2nd time. He said she didn't eat much too. We woke up early at 6am to get ready to feed her. She didn't eat much also. We decided to go and get ready for work first then fed her somemore before going for work.

When we tried to feed her around 7.25am, she didn't respond much. She left us peacefully at 7.30am.

We buried her at the same spot together with chinchin. At least now they have each other again.

Dear Lala,
I hope you have enjoyed your 13 years with us. I am sure that you had a great time in Senja for the past one year with daily supply of apple and treats. You also got to bathe one time and you looked totally gorgeous and clean after your bath.

I will miss your cute look asking for treats and stretching your neck out just to get the treat. I will miss you sleeping in your most unglam and shiok position. I will miss coming home seeing you waiting for us at your cage door. I will miss everything about you. I really love you and will miss you very much. Looking at your empty cage is so upsetting now. Sigh.

I hope you can find lots of apples, almonds, cornflakes, pumpkin seeds and chinchin in the other world.

I dreamt of you last night. I believe it's you telling me that you are "living" a good life now.
