Adding to the daily statistics….

Day 1 - 13 February 2022

I started to experience sore throat in the evening on 12 February 2022. So I did ART and it was negative.

We went back Senja just like every weekend. In the middle of the night, I started to experience really bad sore throat and flu. I felt really sick, that kind that I will definitely need to see doctor to get medicine. So when I woke up in the morning at 7am, I immediately took out the ART kit to test. True enough, I was tested positive. I can’t believe my eyes. I had tested so many times, and yet today, I was tested positive. I quickly went to master bedroom to rest. Jianhui and Lexuan also did ART and thankfully they are negative. It’s tough and heartbreaking to reject my girl but I guess we got no choice. She was crying so badly.

I don’t have much appetite for anything. My fever kept on going up from 37.5 all the way to 39.5 throughout the day. My eyes are swollen too.

My sis is really sweet as she bought sugar cane and my favourite chee Kueh for me! The sugarcane is a saviour for me!

I was basically lying on the bed the whole day and drowning myself with lots of water. When I feel a bit better, i went to Raffles Medical clinic. However, they are closed for the day. We got to wait till 6.30pm before they accept new patients. I went over to another family life clinic at the MRT but also not much better. It was so hot to queue there and my back hurts so much while waiting. So I gave up.

I ate half the hotdog bun and then I went to sleep about 7pm. Throughout the night, I kept on waking up and experiencing backaches.

Day 2 - 14 February 2022

I woke up at 4am and cannot sleep anymore. I continued to rest on bed until 7am. I on my laptop to settle some work before I went to see doctor.

This time round, I am early so at least they didn’t reject me. I heard them rejecting patients to come back 2hrs later as early at 10am! For this clinic, they gave all the ART positive patients a piece of paper which we filled in questions like our symptoms etc. then they will call us one by one to do ART. Thereafter, doctor will call us one by one to “talk” to us. I was told that I would be given 5 days MC. Today considered as Day 1 and I have to isolate until my results is negative. Don’t know how soon can I be negative.

About 10.40am, I received the SMS from MOH to upload my data from TraceTogether app.

So after waiting for 2 hours, I finally get my MC and medicine. I think if you are really well, you should stay at home. It’s crazy for a sick person to wait in the clinic for 2hrs. At least the clinic I went is comfortable. Imagine if I were to go to an outdoor one, I will die waiting in the queue.

Then, I went home. Jianhui bought me beef udon from Ichiban for lunch though I don’t have much appetite.

About 2pm, I received MOH sms to make declaration. I received special BBT delivery from Jenny. I do better better today but fever comes back again towards later part of evening.

Alan ordered Mr Coconut for me! So happy to receive delivery to make myself feel a bit better. I ate McDonald’s double cheeseburger for dinner.

Then I slept at 9pm. I had quite a good sleep though I woke up a few times in the night.

Apparently, Jianhui and Lexuan received HRW around 3am.

Day 3 - 15 February 2022

To no surprise, I am still positive today. A strong one somemore. Trying hard to stay positive that I will be “negative” soon. I do feel so much better but I guess the virus is still in me and I am still infectious.

Today I have no fever (Hurray!) but I got no voice. Feeling breathless as I am working throughout the day. Okay, so I decided to wfh to kill time. Thankful that with the help of lalamove, I managed to get my charger and mouse. Thanks to my good friend, Tze Peng, I was able to log in to my phone to wfh too.

For breakfast, I had bao + kopi gao Siew dai. I had sheng kee wanton mee for lunch. I still don’t not much appetite but at least I am feeling better overall.

Today I feel that time seems to pass by quickly. My MIL cooked home cooked food for us which I am very thankful for.

Day 4 - 16 February 2022

I didn’t sleep well the whole night. It was also raining in the morning. The good thing is I could just wash up and on my laptop. And of course, the first thing I wanna do is, to do my ART!

Sadly, the result is positive! Ah! Another day of “confinement” for me. Overall, I do feel so much better. I still don’t have my voice back though. And I really miss my girl so much! We can only do video calls. We will do video calls 2-3 times in a day. She will keep saying I miss you mummy. Are you feeling better? Are you okay? But then, even when I am tested negative, I will also try to keep a distance from her, just in case the virus is still in me.

The good thing is, my appetite is back! I start to feel hungry and will eat more. I ate 2 char Siew bao + kopi gao Siew dai for breakfast. As for lunch, my sis order chicken macaroni + vegetables for me! So happy to eat my comfort food + got vegetables! As for dinner, I had home cooked fried rice! 吃得还不错啦！Very thankful to have my husband who has been constantly getting food for me and ensuring i have enough water to drink.

This concluded my uneventful day 4. Did my ART at 7pm again and it was a faint double line! Got hope I will be negative soon!

Day 5 - 17 February 2022

I woke up in the morning and was really excited to do my ART! To my disappointment, it is still a faint double line. Sigh. Oh well but I guess I should be happy that it is getting more and more faint.

Today is another day at work. It’s quite a bad day as i had to handle a couple of not-so-nice emails. Oh well, this is part of my job. Just can’t wait to “knock off” the whole day.

When it’s 6pm, I just off my laptop. The good thing about working from home is, you really get to shut off and knock off the moment you off your laptop. The bad thing is, I feel that I am more productive in office? Or maybe I am just too sick this week to do anything.

And so tomorrow is Friday. Can I have some good news?

Day 6 - 18 February 2022

Yes! I am negative today! Yeah!

Jianhui and I went for breakfast at Yakun before we came back home to work. Another day of working from home for me today!

This pretty much sums up my journey!

Would really like to thank my husband for taking such good care of me. He has been buying meals for me and filling up the thermal flash with water several times in a day! And thanks my sis + family + Jenny for buying food and snacks for me! To my friends who asked about me, thanks! And of course, thanks my parents in law for helping to take care of Lexuan so that I can rest well and we can still work.

49 to 51 months old

I would say past 3 months passed by so quickly that we are already in 2nd month of 2022! It has a fulfilling 3 months with us travelling to Australia in January.

We bought monopoly for Lexuan and she loves to play it. She doesn’t like to go to jail so she always wants to cheat to get the chance card to get out of jail. I think it will take a while before she fully understand how to play the game as for now she just wants to have lots of money and move with me on the board. Haha. She also likes to play the magic game, snake and ladder game that my sis bought for her birthday.

She went for her development assessment at the polyclinic. During her assessment, I am kinda impressed that she knows how to use blocks to make into stairs. Everything is good except that doctor commented that we might need to bring her to see eye specialist for bilateral esotropia. I hope that this is nothing serious.

Squid game is so popular that even she knows how to see the song! She calls it the “Gogola” and we are lucky to have 2 of the tots thanks to papa Alan and sis! She will always asks us to play the green light, red light game with her.

November is a “happening” month as she received 2 back to back Health Risk Warning (HRW - 16 November to 22 November 2021 and 23 November to 29 November 2021) due to confirmed case in her class. She didn’t go school most of the days as she needs to do ART everyday if she were to go school during HRW.

She starts to sleep real late at 11pm+ to midnight and this makes me so tired. Most of the time, I feel like sleeping more than her and i will keep repeating, “Lexuan, it’s to sleep…” but she just keeps chatting with me. I guess she Is excited to share with me about her day in school, etc. If I am home late, she will say, “Mummy, I have been waiting for you for so long…” haha. And if I play phone while sleeping with her, she will act like me saying, “mummy, 不可以看电话，眼睛会坏…” This totally sounds like us as we always tells her to play her tablet or phone for too long.

In December, we had staycation at St Regis Suite at a really good price. (Thanks to my sis’ friend lobang.) Lexuan is really happy to go hotel with the family and she will keep talking about it. She every remembers that we forgot to bring one of the penguin Sumikkogurashi toy to hotel. Since then, she will take extra care of this penguin toy.

She knows that Christmas Day is on 25 December. She even asked me to buy Christmas hair bands for the whole family (gong gong, popo, ah gong, ah Ma, 阿姨，姨丈，表姐，daddy, mummy and of course for herself). She learnt Christmas songs from school and is really excited about Christmas.

And the highlight will be our Australia trip in January 2022. She’s really happy to be able to fly again. She’s so excited that she even told her teacher in school that she is going to take aeroplane to see kangaroos which her teacher thought that she was joking. She can definitely remember more about this trip as she is able to articulate what did we do and what animals did she see. Her favourite activity got to be cherry picking. She will also say she misses our silver car which we rented in Australia. She is so familiar with Swab test (which she calls 挖鼻子）as we have done so many swab and ART tests.

For the day 7 ART test, I am so thankful that she is such a good girl. She carried her own bag and is generally very cooperative so this makes it easy for me to manage her alone with my working bag as well.

She was sick in January and would wake me up every 2 hours. So glad that she recovered well before Chinese New Year.

She is behaving more and more like a grown up kid. She starts to sit between us in taxi instead of sitting on my lap. Though most of the time when she wants to sleep, she still prefers me to hug her to sleep. She will tell us to come home at midnight so that she can enjoy party. Haha.

As we approaching CNY, she also learnt how to sing CNY songs (新年来了，新年来了。我们唱歌我们跳舞。。。something along this line) It’s so cute as she will dance and sing the song. She also knows about 团圆饭 and will tell me that we need to take photos first before eating. Haha. For the whole CNY, she is very happy to go to my dad’s house to play xixi’s toys. So excited that she will wake up early, shower and get dressed to wait for us. She wants to wear beautiful dresses and is more keen to wear same clothes as me.

Recently, when she wants to be a teacher, she will say, “I teach you a lesson”. This is so funny and I have to correct her sentence. She is able to convey teachers’ instructions to us such as asking us to bring more masks to school, etc. she even told me that her teacher says cannot kiss because got covid. 🤣

Just last week, we went out and this girl happily go into one shop to shop. She will choose bracelets, hair band etc. haha. Suddenly I really think that she is all grown up.

Everyday I just wish that she is happy and healthy. Especially with all the viruses going on, I think what really matters is good health.

Happy 51 months old to my not-so-baby anymore baby! ❤️
