Lexuan’s first day of school in Primary School

And so today is the first day of school for Lexuan! She told me she was feeling a bit nervous the night before but other than that, she slept well. In comparison, I didn’t sleep well, waking up every hour and even woke up at 4.30am. Zombie mode. 

Jianhui and I woke up at 5.30am to eat breakfast before we woke Lexuan up. I must say she’s a good girl as she woke up almost immediately and went to brush her teeth + pee. Then she drank milk and got herself dressed. We were ready by 6.05am. 

We went down to wait for the shuttle bus around 6.20am. The bus will pick her up at 6.30am. I went to take public transport so that I could join her in school. In the end, Jianhui managed to charm the Auntie Lee and he got a free ride to school as today there are not many students taking the mini van. One of the students was also from Respect 5, same class as Lexuan. 

I rushed to take the 976 before changing to 184. Surprisingly, there was quite a lot of 184 in the morning. I reached the school before 7am and saw a few teachers rushing to enter the school. 

I went to canteen to find Jianhui and Lexuan. Was surprised that some of her classmates were already there without parents. I must say nowadays the kids are much braver than we thought. Our girl was happily chit chatting with her new friends too. 

Then the parents proceeded to the hall for speech again. I was feeling so tired by now. Luckily, it was a short one before we went to a classroom to meet the class mentors (aka form teachers). We can also write encouragement note for our kid. Around 9am, we could go to canteen to see our kids buying food.

As what I have expected, Lexuan bought drink instead of food. She happily bought a bottle of Milo and it’s so funny that she couldn’t open it and got to get the teacher to help her open it. She ate the bin bin I packed for her which was supposed to be her snacks at 11am. Hope that she will learn to buy proper food to eat during recess from tomorrow onwards. 

After recess, the parents could go home and so I took the bus home. Was so tired that I told Jianhui to buy me Yakun coffee. By now, I was feeling hungry too. 

Then, around 1.45pm, our girl took the school bus back herself! 

I’m so proud of her! She has survived her first day in school! She must be so hungry as she finished quite a lot of the chicken rice we bought for her. It’s her first day of school and the parents are dead tired. Haha. Seriously, why must kids start school so early? 

Hope she continues to enjoy going to school!

And after resting for close to 3 weeks, I will be back to work tomorrow. I am definitely not looking forward to it. Haha. Jia you ba!
