Short trip to Desaru

 19 October 2025 

I have been very busy at work and was really looking forward to this long weekend! We decided to go Desaru! And we are staying at Westin! We’re going by ferry this time round.

We woke up at 6am plus. Jianhui wanted to buy McDonald’s breakfast for us but it was still not open at 7am. So he bought bread for us. 

We managed to get a cab to go Tanah Merah Terminal. It’s pretty empty. I guess most people must have gone Desaru yesterday instead. We got our ferry tickets pretty fast then we went to Woon’s Kopi by Killiney to sit. Clearing customs is not a problem as there aren’t many people. Our ferry is at 10.10am and when it was ready to board, it was already last call. 

It’s an empty ferry and we reached at around 11.20am. Then we boarded shuttle bus to Westin! Yeah! It is a short bus ride.

Checking in is a breeze too! Then we decided to have lunch at the lobby there. The menu seems to be the same as the Beach bar.  We ordered salmon, club sandwich and Lexuan’s favourite mozzarella sticks. We were shocked when they served us a big bowls of mozzarella sticks (over 10 of them). Club sandwich and salmon is okay. Note to self: The coconut shake is not nice. We kept on forgetting that it is not nice and so we had been ordering it everytime we came here. We relaxed for a while.

Just when we thought that we should just go to the water theme park instead of wasting time waiting, I received a message that our room is ready! Yeah! It’s before 2pm! 

Our room is at level 2 which is same level at the lobby. Very convenient. Also, we got a birthday decoration in the room! We take it as my birthday month celebrate and pre birthday celebration for Lexuan. 

Then we are ready to go the theme park! There is discount for Visa card. It cost about SGD90+ for 2 adults and 1 child. Lexuan is excited to try the most scary ride this time round. 

We tried rides that we didn’t get to try the other time like the Super Twister, Wild Whirl,  and Kraken’s Revenge, Swinging Ship and Penawar River (lazy river). We queued about an hour for Kraken’s revenge so that was the longest time Lexuan has ever queued. It was a fun day. We left at around 5.30pm and we stopped by hard rock to buy big packets of twisties! 

We went back to shower. Then we had buffet dinner at Westin restaurant. The spread is quite good! They have sashimi, seafood station, a lot of variety of cooked food, desserts and a station full of old school snacks! Lexuan took a lot a lot of the snacks from the station… like jelly, chocolates, lollipops, cheese balls. I was so full from all the food! Lexuan was happily making ice kachang too! We were really full. She also made me buy roller coasters snacks which we thought it was chips but it was potato rings. 

We went back to the room, showered and relaxed. 

20 October 2025 

Good morning! We went for breakfast at 8am. Wow! It was crowded. We got to sit at the other Restaurant Prego. Was really looking forward to eat my packet nasi lemak but they no longer pack it in a leaf. 

Lexuan likes the chicken soup with Maggie mee. She was lucky. She got to eat ice cream too. 

After breakfast, we went swimming! We played until 10.30am+ then we went back to the room. We relaxed in the room until 2pm. 

Then we went to the lobby. I went to Hard rock to shop. Nothing much to buy but I bought twisties and reusable straw (RM10).

Lexuan is hungry so we went to the same lounge for lunch. We ordered popcorn chicken + beer. We stayed there until it’s 4pm. We took the shuttle bus and lucky we didn’t delay anymore as there was a long queue at the terminal to clear customs. So this 5.30pm ferry is a popular one. 

The ferry is full. We managed to get seats and so we can still sit together. We finally reached about 7pm+. Luckily, there is no queue at the customs. The challenge is yo call a cab and I managed to book one under Grab. At least it is not $70. 

All in all, it was a good short trip! We really enjoyed ourselves. It was totally a good break before the next one.
